About the National Children’s Study Publications Committee Writing Teams

The Publications Committee assembles Writing Teams to prepare manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals. The size of a given Writing Team depends on the topic, but is expected to be generally between 5 and 10 members. The Publications Committee assembles Writing Teams in a variety of ways, with the goal of assuring appropriate inclusiveness of a variety of Study locations and other Study contributors. The Publications Committee co-chairs invite qualified individuals to serve on a named Writing Team. Individuals who suggest topics for primary National Children's Study publications may also suggest members for the Writing Team. Lastly, individuals can self-refer or nominate others to serve on a specific Writing Team or on a future Writing Team within their specified area of interest.

Writing Team members may come from Study contract organizations, the Program Office, other federal agencies, independent investigators, or others with appropriate expertise and applicable Study involvement. Effort expended on Writing Teams is voluntary and not invoiced to National Children's Study contracts.
