The National Children’s Study (NCS) has released a Data Brief providing analysis of recruitment approaches from three phases of its pilot Vanguard Study: the Initial Vanguard Study phase, the Alternate Recruitment Sub-study, and the Provider-Based Sampling Sub-study. As of December 2013, the Vanguard Study includes approximately 5,050 children born to enrolled mothers in 40 Study locations. The NCS will follow these children until they reach the age of 21 years.
The U.S. map below shows the 40 Study locations where the NCS participants were recruited and the recruitment strategy employed at each location. The size of the circles indicates the number of children enrolled.
