Program Officer, Contracting Officer Representative,
National Children’s Study
Dr. Chung serves as a Program Officer, Contracting Officer Representative (COR), and Financial Analyst for the National Children’s Study. He is the COR of the four Regional Operations Centers (ROCs) IDIQ contracts, and also oversees the Quality Assurance Assessments (QAA) on the data collection, retention, and outreach/engagement within the Vanguard Study, while also providing support to the NCS Operations Team. Dr. Chung also provides the NCS expertise related to Nutrition and Dietary Assessments. Before joining the NCS, he worked in the Office of Grants Management for the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) and the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID). His prior experience also includes work as an entrepreneur and research consultant for the biotech industry and the University of Illinois Institute for Genomic Biology, where his research focused on utilizing plant biomedicine, molecular biology, genomics, proteomics, microbiology, and nutraceuticals to target chronic and infectious health issues. Dr. Chung has also served as the Editor-in-Chief for the International Journal of Applied Research in Natural Products. He was selected as one of the “top 100 most promising young scientists in life sciences in the world” by the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). Dr. Chung received his doctorate in Physiological Molecular Biology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
